Caffeine and pre-workouts in Australia: adding it up
TL;DR
Your entered caffeine total is 500 mg/day or more. NIH ODS notes heavy caffeine use (500 mg/day or more) might reduce rather than improve performance and could disturb sleep and cause irritability and anxiety. Remember coffee, tea, energy drinks and pre-workouts add up (assumes doses in mg).
What the research says
NIH ODS reviews caffeine, beta-alanine and citrulline in its exercise and athletic performance fact sheet. [1]
Beta-alanine tingling
Tingling (paresthesia) in the face, neck, hands or upper body has been reported with beta-alanine doses of about 800 mg or more (NIH ODS). It is usually described as a sensation, but mention it to your GP or pharmacist if it worries you (assumes doses in mg). [1]
