NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide) in Australia: evidence and prices

TL;DR

NMN is a precursor of NAD+ that is popular in longevity circles. A 2026 meta-analysis of 15 short trials (14 days to 24 weeks) found it was well tolerated but showed no clear broad metabolic benefits. A 2025 meta-analysis found no significant effect on muscle mass or function in older adults. Long-term data are limited. Check the ARTG and ask your GP before use.

Safety and metabolic outcomes

A 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis (15 randomised trials, doses 250–2,000 mg/day, 14 days to 24 weeks) found NMN did not increase adverse events or liver enzymes, and found no significant effects on weight, glucose, HbA1c, lipids or systolic blood pressure. The authors call for larger, longer trials. [1]

Muscle and ageing

A 2025 meta-analysis in adults with a mean age over 60 found NMN had no significant effects on muscle mass, grip strength or gait speed. [2]
